"Why
do people with no Mull connection come to a place like Knockan? Leave
aside that it is now extremely comfortable. Leave aside also Iona, Staffa,
scenery, sea eagles, golden eagles, puffins, otters, seals, to start an
endless list. There is something else:
This
round-cornered croft cottage, built originally by refugee crofter/weaver
John Black during the Highland Clearances, proudly displaying some of its
original timbers, mollusc tunnels betraying their origins as driftwood
from the shore, has a sense of peace, place, history, heritage and
wholeness woven into its fabric.
Iona
has been described as a ‘thin place where heaven and earth are not far
apart’. Many have found that describes Knockan too." (from
The House that Black built.)

Mull

WALKERS:
Mull boasts the only Munro on an island other
than Skye (Ben More), one Corbett (Dun da Gaoithe) and one Corbett top
(Ben More - A'Chioch). But there are other
amazing routes to suit all abilities. Knockan has a drying room
for wet gear.

 |
CYCLISTS:
Knockan has secure, dry storage for bikes, and a drying room for
wet gear. Bike
hire and local routes,

FAMILIES:
A Mull holiday might not qualify for the category 'lively'
(in the sense of one where you might worry about your youngsters
getting their extra-curricular education prematurely completed), but
it has just about everything else -
mountains and machairs, spectacular beaches and awesome sea cliffs, a
sense of the past and a sense of the 'now'. And Knockan, with its location,
facilities
and selection of books and board games is an ideal base.

GOLDEN
EAGLES: "A great place to see these birds is the
Isle of Mull which has a very healthy population." (Wildlife
Britain. Click

are about 30 eagle ranges in all, both in the mountains of central
Mull, and along the rugged sea cliffs of the south coast as far west
as Erraid.

An
unsolicited recommendation via Linked-in
"An exemplary, in my view, provider of holiday accommodation. What is
advertised is EXACTLY what you get. Which is rare in my experience. In
addition, which is even rarer, the whole experience from reserving,
booking, staying, leaving and making repeat reservations is a warm, stress
free and pleasurable undertaking. Rentals are appropriate and reasonable
for the property and area. The accommodation is comfortable, welcoming and
immaculate. I have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending this holiday
accommodation provider to anyone at all. NB. I am not related or
beneficent in any way! I struggle to 'get in'."
